As borders and businesses start to slowly reopen in the next few months, Emirates has opened its doors to resume scheduled passenger services to 9 destinations, with connections via Dubai but offered only to passengers travelling between the UK and Australia.
While the destinations are limited, it's a good sign to look forward to as other airlines will look to return to the skies along with Emirates. In a press release and email to its guests, Emirates informed future passengers that they are now flying again but to take note of 6 essential reminders:
Bring your gloves and masks for every flight
Online Check-in services are currently unavailable
Arrive in the airport 4 hours before your flight
Do NOT bring hand luggage for your flight
Expect thermal screening and other COVID tests
Maintain social distancing throughout the flight
Although most of these reminders are to be expected, we still have to see how the new normal in flying really looks like. How will social distancing be applied in the cabin? How strict will they be implementing the no hand carry luggage? Will these new procedures and policies be the same across all airlines or will each airline have their own set of standards?
All these questions and more will all be answered in the coming months as we slowly see airlines recover and start flying to select destinations. Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific will most likely be resuming operations on June 1, 2020. Unfortunately as the situation develops in the country nothing is for certain.
For now we can be hopeful and look forward to traveling safely once more.
