Been itching to travel? Same. I mean everyone from frequent flyers to those who only fly every now and then have had some kind of island fever the past year. While many of us have been traveling domestically, you and I know it just a differently feeling when you travel to another country.
The famous travel destination of Phuket will be the first to open to foreign tourists. Beginning July 1, tourists who have received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine will no longer need to quarantine upon arriving in Phuket.
Chang Mai, Krabi, Phang Nga, and Pattaya will follow on October 1 this year and finally all of Thailand will be open to fully vaccinated tourists on January 1, 2022.
Coming from the Philippines there aren't any direct flights so you'll most likely need to transit from Bangkok, but hey this is a great sign considering the it has been more than a year that borders have been closed. Then again worldwide Covid cases have been spiking and peaking lately because of the situation in India so things can change. If ever you do plan to book make sure you get flights with free rebooking.
Thailand seems to be the only asian country to have announced any solid plans for reopening to those who are fully vaccinated. It's no surprise though as Thailand's economy relies heavily on their tourism. It would be nice if the Philippines could follow the same strategy and open key destinations to those who are vaccinated, but is highly unlikely in the next few months.
