Get an extra 15% bonus of Asia Miles when you convert your credit card points

As soon as KrisFlyer's bonus miles promotion ends on the 27th of December, Cathay Pacific's Asia Miles launches their own bonus miles promotion with registration starting December 28.

According to the promotional email sent to their Asia Miles members, a registration link will be sent to members emails on the 28th.

Just like KrisFlyer, the bonus will also be 15% as the 2 Asian powerhouses compete to grab market share in the already downsized passenger demand.

No further details were announced such as the end date of the promotion so expect the possibility that this may be a one day thing. Better be ready on the 28th!

It comes at no surprise that both Asia Miles and KrisFlyer roll out these promotions in December as people will most likely have done a ton of Christmas shopping with their credit cards, accumulating a lot of credit card points in the process.

Let's not forget that these loyalty programs earn billions from banks and every cent during this difficult time counts!

Bottomline

Similar to transferring points to KrisFlyer, only transfer to Asia Miles if your upcoming travel destination is serviced by Cathay Pacific. If not you'll end up having stagnant miles waiting to be devalued.

It is important to note that Singapore Airlines is a more stable airline compared to Cathay Pacific. Recently Cathay Dragon was shut down along with mass lay offs and Cathay Pacific has been battling problems before the pandemic with the political unrest in Hong Kong.

In the event that Cathay Pacific goes down, which isn't very likely but still possible, you might lose all your Asia Miles. So transfer at your risk!
