Sad news for all Singapore Airlines fans such as myself as the KrisFlyer loyalty program will start raising flight award prices by more or less 12% starting July 5, 2022.
It was something we knew was coming as airline, credit card, and hotel points and miles always devalue over time and that day has finally come for KrisFlyer. Throughout the pandemic, KrisFlyer has given away huge amounts KrisFlyer miles through various promotions to keep the company afloat during the tough time, and now it's starting to take a toll on their balance sheets.

While Singapore Airlines is a world class airline thats consistently been in the top 3 airlines in the world, their flight awards redemptions were already higher than normal to begin with. KrisFlyer miles aren't as easy to earn either if you're based in the Philippines. First of all, Singapore Airlines is expensive and thats fact. So earning KrisFlyer miles would cost you a lot out of pocket. The best way to rack up KrisFlyer miles is through its co-branded credit card with EastWest.
A one way business class ticket from Manila to New York via Singapore (the longest flight in the world) that currently costs 99,000 KrisFlyer miles will cost you 111,500 KrisFlyer miles for the exact same flights starting July 5. Thats roughly a 12% increase.

Bottomline
Eventually it was going to happen. This is why I never support hoarding of any points or miles because you'll never know when they'll devalue them. We earn them so we can use them. So unless you're saving up for a specific trip using airline miles, I suggest you use your miles as soon as you can.
If you're reading this at the time of posting you still have 2 days to book and lock in the old award prices. Just make sure its not a waitlisted award!
