Singapore might be opening sooner than you think

As one of the more strict nations in regards to border control in South East Asia, Singapore has close to 40% of its people fully vaccinated at the time of writing and on pace to achieve herd immunity by September or early October.

This is great news considering much of the world is still closed to us Filipinos.

Singapore is so confident that they say they go on and say that will soon expect to treat Covid-19 just like the common flu. It does help that Singapore's population is only 5.8 million and the fact they are a very wealthy first-world nation.

You can snag cheap fares to Singapore now for later in the year from around ₱5,500-₱8,000 via Cebu Pacific or Jetstar. Just make sure to book a fare that is refundable or with free rebooking because we're always one new variant away from getting our plans ruined.

Although this is positive news, don't expect Singapore to accept Filipinos right away. Border reopening will likely be gradual with priority given to low to medium risk countries. Similar to the Phuket Sandbox program which unfortunately considers the Philippines as a high-risk nation.

It's best to be optimistic but keep expectations grounded until announcements of a reopening are finalized.
