UnionBank Cebu Pacific cards are trash

Words can't describe my frustration towards using my UnionBank Cebu Pacific Gold credit card. I got the card in the middle of 2021 since it had a nice welcome offer and I do fly with Cebu Pacific often. At that time the rewards program for Cebu Pacific was GetGo, which I actually found quite okay and valuable at times. A month after I got my card the program switched to Go Rewards and that was when my problems started.

You're instructed to merge your GetGo account with your new Go Rewards account and everything should be smooth from there. Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Integration wasn't that smooth and until now there are issues with Go Rewards and its credit card partners.

I had to call almost every month because my points weren't being transferred to my Go Rewards account and I was basically losing out because I wasn't earning any rewards. It was so bad that I had to stop using the card at one point. After a year of persistent issues, I got slapped with the annual fee and the agent would not waive it since I didn't reach the minimum spend of ₱200,000, but how could I when I wasn't earning any rewards?

As a Cebu Pacific credit card holder I should be entitled to 1 Go Reward with every ₱20 spent at Cebu Pacific on top of the 2x multiplier for the credit card but I didn't. The system didn't recognize I had the card and there was nowhere to enroll the card with my Go Reward account.

Perks like advanced access to Cebu Pacific's seat sales never materialized and the spend-to-point ratio of ₱200 was nothing to smile about.

Basically, everything that was advertised was not working and I had to make the decision to make a product change to the UnionBank Miles+ Platinum card, which so far has been great.

Bottomline

It really is a shame that it come to this as the GetGo program was somewhat valuable during some occasions and would have redemption promotions that were worthwhile.

The fact that Go Rewards uses a cash price system makes it less lucrative as well and overall Go Rewards is a downgrade from the GetGo program for the airline side of the coin.

I would have given it one more chance but after more than a year of the same issues I asked the customer service agent to be honest with me and he admitted that several cardholders had the same problem and were not being credited their points at all!

Sigh* I have the same problem. it really is frustrating that I have to call/email and follow up every moth just to get the GoRewards pts that in the first place, I am entitled to have.

this card doesn’t have airport lounge access to which is ironic how they advertise this as for travelers and the ceb pac early flight deals aren’t working. I haven’t received any notifications about the seat sales.

i bumped in to this post, I wish I saw this post before I activated the card. I want to avail there platinum miles card, how much is your CL if you don’t minde. Thank you

Yep it's really frustrating. Not worth all the hassle and you're right not once did I get a notification about any early seat sales.

For my Miles+ Platinum my credit limit from my Cebu Pacific card was just carried over.
