Travel credit cards are an important financial tool for travel. Not just because you can use them abroad when traveling, but also because they earn points/miles from everyday spending plus some extra perks.
So every now and then I try to update my cards and make sure I have the best travel credit cards that are available to me.
Citi PremierMiles
This was the card that got me into the credit card points and miles game. A great mid-tier credit card with a good spend-to-mile ratio, lounge access, seamless app, great promotions, it was my bread and butter credit card.
Unfortunately the devaluation of its spend-to-mile ratio last year has made the card way less attractive and the recent announcement that Citibank is pulling out of the Philippines was the nail in the coffin and a sign to move on from this credit card.
EastWest Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer World
I would consider this the best travel credit card in the Philippines right now (with the exception of the Citi Prestige) and my go-to for all my online and travel spends. The card has a decent spend-to-mile ratio of ₱36 = 1 mile for local spending and an amazing ₱12 = 1 mile for online and travel-related spending.
An array of Mastercard travel perks, lounge access, and a low foreign conversion fee of just 1.7% puts this credit card on the top of the rankings. My most used credit card.
BPI Visa Signature
My former go-to credit card when going abroad and any kind of foreign spending with a low 1.85% forex fee compared to other cards at around 3.5%. Mediocre transfer ratio to airlines so I only use this card now if they have any good promotions or deals worth grabbing.
UnionBank CebuPacific GetGo Gold
The latest addition to my wallet and my credit card for all my local spending moving forward. I acquired this credit card solely to get more miles on my local spending and to diversify my points and miles a little bit.
No crazy travel perks for this card. Just for earning GetGo miles.
BDO Platinum
A card just for emergencies in case something happens to my other credit cards. I only use this card if there is an over-the-top promotion currently running.
Other cards in my wallet:
One debit card - for situations when I need cash
Landers membership card
S&R membership card
Driver's License
Robinson Rewards card
Swirl loyalty card (Coffee Bean)
Starbucks loyalty card
Shakey's Supercard+
SM Prestige card
