You can now pay to block the seat beside you on PAL flights

Like many airlines, Philippine Airlines has been adapting to the very low passenger demand caused by Covid-19. One way the airline has responded is by allowing you to pay a small extra fee to block your neighbouring economy seats.

You can block up to 3 seats with the price ranging $30 to $325 depending on the route and the number of seats you wish to block. You can't however buy the seat beside you when book your flight and you actually have to wait for an email 24 hours before your departure. Meaning you may or may not get this offer depending on how full the flight is.

This is similar to the MyPAL upgrade where in Philippine airlines offers you to bid for an upgrade to the next cabin class 36 hours before departure, except here we have a fixed price for blocking the seats beside yours.

Smart move on PAL to gain some extra revenue as planes will most likely not reach full capacity on flights and allows the passenger to guarantee that extra space whether its for social distancing reason from a fear of Covid or just wanting that extra space and privacy during the flight.

Would you pay to block the seat beside you?
